god bless america

thanks, america. if it weren’t for you and your awesome independence, i wouldn’t have had a three day weekend.

so i gotta say that the 4th was pretty uneventful for me. but i think this is because i got wrecked both wed and thurs nights. thurs, especially, was hella insane and sorta crazy even for my standards. i won’t expound too much, but it involved copious amounts of excess that i couldn’t show you pictures of (even if i had any).

i definitely feel two solid nights of partying led to an unenthusiastic 4th. my body basically said hell-no to the festivities. i ended up at a party in soma for a while that was waaay too packed. i just wasn’t feeling it, but i had fun nonetheless catching up with old friends.

the rest of the weekend was super mellow for the most part. since the city felt like a ghost town with the mass holiday exodus, it was the perfect weekend to get brunch at one of those places that is usually always packed with an hour wait. since i hadn’t been before, jesse took me to canteen in the tl (lower nob hill, whatever…). the place is hella small with an awesome kelly green counter and about 5 booths. service was kinda sour, but the food more than made up for our bitchy queen waiter with the stink face.

i ordered poached eggs that came with bacon, potatoes, and wheat toast dry. the eggs were poached nicely, and didn’t come in a separate bowl, a sign of a quality poach for sure and a chef that cares. (i seriously hate when poached eggs come in a cup sitting in water. ugh.)

jesse couldn’t decide between eggs and french toast so he ordered both. the eggs benedict, which had the creamiest, richest hollandaise sauce i have ever tasted, was phenomenal and probably heart-attack inducing. to be fair, the nectarine french toast with sweet cream cheese was shared, so it wasn’t like he ate two breakfast entrees by himself. i definitely got into the french toast action. gotta have a little sweet with the salty, you know?

afterwards, we went to golden gate park to lay out in the sun. we tried to play go-fish, but that was a bust since we didn’t really remember how to play. eh, it was just nice to lie out and be warm for a change…

oh, and yesterday, i bowled a turkey at presidio bowl. that’s three strikes in a row. count’ em – one, two, three.
